It's easy to imagine the advantages to business people, what, if any, are the advantages to the consumer/end user?

The end user benefits in a number of ways. First are the new applications. Using Internet technologies like publish and subscribe, push etc. a whole new set of services are facilitated. Examples of the types of services are universal messaging (voice and email), location-based services etc. This approach allows wireless service providers to open up their networks to hundreds and thousands of content and application providers much like the Internet.

Finally, there are lots of different standards for cellular communication. This provides the

   



ability to ensure that the data networking and applications operate transparently across all of the standards. Imagine propagating the dual and trimodal phone model into the data networking area - it would impede the development of new services and the use of services.

What sort of products do you foresee? Hardware, software or???
